Can you introduce 100Blumen to our readers?
100blumen is a one man army that destroys the western civilisation with the burning farts of anarchy ... and I am doing electronic music.
The name 100Blumen comes from a Mao Zedong quote; can you explain it a bit more?
The history of the Chinese 100 flower movement is an example for what dictatorship means. But I cannot explain all about this, it’s very complex. And the words “100blumen” sounds great, I found it in a book about anarchistic literature. “100blumen” was the name of a leftwing magazine from berlin in the early seventies.
You started in the punk/grindcore scene as a singer, how did you get in contact with the electronic scene and what made you change your direction?
The first time I get in touch with it was in 1989. I don’t remember who left this Front 242 tape in my room but i liked it. One year later i met my girlfriend (she was into the dark scene) and we went to parties and such things. It was a creeping progress but at the end I was infected with this weired sound that’s not so different from punk.
What are the similarities between punk and industrial music or is it more a feeling behind it?
There´s a non commercial thing in the rhythmn noise scene that´s the same in punk. And
the most artists i met are weird guys like in the punk scene.
What hasn’t changed are your believes as 100Blumen is a political band, how can we find this back in your music because there aren’t any lyrics and is industrial music the ideal music to ventilate your opinions and views on the world?
Whew, a difficult question. In my opinion 100blumen isn’t a political band. If people think that it is political to be opposed to racism and antisemitism, I am political. OK, I am a vegetarian and I don’t vote; I like the “a” in the circle and black flags.

Sometimes i put some hidden messages into my tracks like “kill all the rich!” but you can only hear it if you play my songs backwards.
What inspires you in writing music and how do you create it, do you have to be in a specific mood to make it?
I can’t create anything when I am drunken and the best time to do my music is in the morning. Well, i don’t have to be in a specific “mood” but the most time i am tired ;-)
You started your own label “le petit machiniste” in 2005. Most of the time when people start with something, they have a rough idea or a dream for the future, what was yours regarding the label and did you succeed in it?
I am selling a few cd-rs, t-shirts and my 7”, but I am satisfied with it.
In 2005 I said to myself that it would be a great thing to get my own label. Some friends like Nin Kuji, Störfunk and ++99 released on it and together we created a free download compilation. The only dream I have is to get the worldleadership.
How do you work with these bands, is it based on the old punk ideology of DIY (Do it Yourself)?
Yes that´s right. We are friends and not business partner and we do it in a non commercial way.
In 2006 you released “Flowers and Barricades” on your label, how were the responses on it and are you still satisfied with it.
Yes, I am. In January 2006 I released my first 7”single on lpm and then, at the end of the summer, “flowers and barricades” did follow. Both releases were played in some parties in the Ruhr district in Germany.
The first time I saw the people dancing to “what kind of man are you?” was amazing.

I changed the kind of recording. The 7inch “against the snails” and the mini CD “flowers and barricades” were live recorded. Each song in only one track.
In my opinion “in floriculture there is no law!” is the straight continuation of “flowers and barricades”
In Mr Sister you use a sample of a famous Twisted Sister videoclip, why this sample and did Twisted Sister play a role in your youth as well?
Mr. Sister is the second part of “what kind of man are you?” in which I used the voice samples first. Twisted sister did the very best party hard rock releases ever, but this is not the reason for using the samples. One of my closest friends was a big twisted sister fan, he died in 2005 and the voice samples are a hommage to him. He was like the teenager who only wants to rock!
The album “in floriculture there is now law” is released on the famous Ant Zen label, how did you get in contact with them?
They get in contact with me after the festival “Elektroanschlag” in Altenburg/Germany in 2007. What should I say, if you ever seen me live, you would know why they asked me for a release. :)
You will play at the summer darkness festival, what can people expect from a 100Blumen show?
The floral annihilation of Utrecht!
Any last words for the readers?
Do your own thing and walk proud.
