Who is Alexys?

To describe who Alexys is could take a lifetime so we’ll just say I’m a girl just trying to get through life as happy as possible.

How do you manage to stay happy because life can be pretty stressful every now and then

You find ways…I do a lot or reading and am currently writing a sci-fi novel and comedy series.  I feel that writing helps me escape from reality and helps to get life’s woes off my chest.  I’m an avid fitness fanatic as well and run for about an hour first thing in the morning, now THAT helps you to really clear your head!

Why did you move from sunny California to rainy London?

It doesn't always rain in London, it’s just gloomy...however, I moved here to be with my husband.

What do you miss most of California?

Mexican food, the beaches, and the constant sunshine...but most of all I miss my family.

You do so much but what is most important for you?

They are all important to me.  In my hectic lifestyle however, I prioritize what is currently happening in my life.  At the moment, I have had several acting jobs pop up, just finishing a month run as a dungeon prisoner in Hellgate for Thorpe Park’s Fright Nites.  I have a few SFX make-up jobs lined up, and look forward to taking a few more college courses to brush up on some old make-up and hair skills that I haven’t used in a while.

Next year INERTIA have a few gigs lines up, the Whitby warm-up in April and Wave Gotik Treffen in May.  We’re also putting some ideas together for a new album too.

Inertia just released the new cd, how are the comments on it so far?

The response has been rather overwhelming.  A lot of people who didn't like us before have suddenly had a change of heart.  And the old fans love the new additions to the music.  I'm very proud of this album.

Are you already working on a new album, why so fast, too much inspiration?

It normally takes 2-3 years for us to write an album so we’re only in the beginning stages of putting ideas down.

We know you love dancing, what is your fav piece to dance to on the album?

I don't really listen to my own music at home but I’m a fan of musicals and Bollywood.  I trained as a Bollywood dancer many years ago and have performed on Indian national television as well as Mela festivals in the UK.  So a good dance would be to Sunidhi Chauhan.

How did you got in contact with Bollywood and where did you learn to dance?

Like any job in the entertainment industry, once you’ve had your training they place you in jobs or put you in contact with the relevant people.  I met the NATARAJ Company at the Gunnersbury Mela many years ago and they were looking for dance students to potentially place in high profile shows and ultimately film and television.

How is it to be in the same band as your husband?

It’s kind of like running family business but you have to keep personal separate from business.

What is the link between you and Harry Potter, seems you are really crazy about him?

I'm a big fan of the books and had a small feature in the film 'The Goblet of Fire'.  I can’t believe that the series has finally ended.  I’m elated, but also feel a sense of loss.

How was it to play a small part in such a popular movie?

Very overwhelming.  I think I was the only fan on set.  I’m back with the same agent who put me in the film, so fingers crossed, there are two more movies to go, I might work on it again.

I read you speak Hindi, where did you learn this? Was there any reason for you to learn it?

I was dancing in a Bollywood troupe for about a year and most of the people that I worked with spoke Hindi.  I thought it was only natural for me to be part of that.  Plus I've always loved Bollywood films and it gave me a better understanding of the emotions evoked through language.

You also toured with Circus of Horrors, you play mistress Severina in it? Can you tell us some more about C.o.H and your part/character?

Mistress Severina was the vampire sidekick of Dr. Haze.  I sang and danced for the show.  C of H is a traditional circus with a horror twist.  Think Cirque du Soleil meets Rocky Horror and add PT Barnum’s side show.

Alexys

Was touring with C.o.H. different than touring with Inertia for you?

Circus is entirely different than any band, theatre, show that you’ll ever know.  It’ constant work, labouring work as well.  You have to build up and pull down every single stage that you perform on taking up to 3 hours at a time.  Even if it means that you don’t leave the venue until 3 in the morning and then you still have to drive to your next location just to do it all over again…sleep or no sleep…and you still have to perform your 2 hour show in between.  It was good experience and I enjoyed the show.

You are actor as well, what is the fav. part you played so far? What part do you want to play someday?

Definitely Harry Potter was my favourite.  I played the Bulgarian Minister.  It was just so amazing to be part of that magical legacy of the films.  One day though, I would love to be a scream queen for a George Romero film or one of his zombies.   I’m a big fan of his films.

We talked about spirituality in the past, in what way is spirituality important for you, what role does it have in your daily life?

It’s important for people to know that spirituality does not mean religious.  I am not a religious person by any means.  I look deep inside my own soul to find the right answers to my life.  Even if it means I have to stop what I’m doing for a few moments, close my eyes and listen to my heart and my soul to find the right answers.

Everybody has an addiction, what is yours?

Watching porn and getting tattooed.

What will your next tattoo be?

I don’t talk about my tattoos only because I get them for me and no one else.  It would take too long to explain what and where I want it.  I never ask people about their body art as I know it is always a personal experience for them as it is for me.

What are your futureplans?

To be successful at anything I can do…and blag a job from Tom Savini…(are you reading this?!?!?)

Any last words for the readers?

Zombies are beautiful people too.
