Who is Arcy?
I’m Arcana Moon, the female-singer of the fetish-vampire project “Psychoroika”. And beside this I’m a writer of short-stories, poems and surely song lyrics for Psychoroika and other bands. Sometimes I work also in collaborations with different musicians, it’s always funny.
The private Arcy is often a secret, and some people think she’s an ice-hearted girl ;)
What did you want to become when you were a kid?
Oh, my wish was to become a florist or a gardener. I wanted to be in touch with people. Today I have a little garden on the balcony, I write for anthologies and sing in a band – well my wish nearly became true. *laughs*
You started with Arcana Moon already in 2001, what was the original reason for you to start achieving a career in music?
It was in autumn 2000. I met Guido Zimmermann, alias “Autumn” (Corwen at this time) in a chat. He was punk musician. But one day he has produced a song in dark wave style and he didn’t wanted to produce that song with his band. He wanted to hear a female voice in this song too and so he was searching for a female singer. He didn’t know that I was a singer, until one day.
At a Karaoke evening on the phone, I was singing “Eternal Flame” from the “Bangels” for him. He was surprised and impressed, and so he wanted me to be his female-singer. I said yes, and the idea of a music project was born.
In February 2001 he moved from Neubrandenburg to Berlin, and so we met to produce our first songs “Witchnight” and “Search for you”. We uploaded them to “MP3.de” – a German music-portal and so “Arcana Moon” was born in March 2001.
For me it was an experiment and surely a lot of fun, because I love to sing and write. Well and now, “Arcana Moon” is still alive, more than 8 years later…
You released one album as Arcana Moon, how do you look back at it, did it fulfill your expectations?
The work on our album “Impressionen” (impressions) was a long odyssey. Our best friends at this time were: computer crashes, lost files, resignation, and much more. Some days we thought this will never have an end. On “Rosengarten” (rose garden) we worked more than one year, but at the end it was one of the deepest songs of the album.
A lot of the songs have been released online before. Crystal re-mastered all these tracks with new sounds and new vocals. Also we produced 3 more tracks and little poems between the songs as a special gift for all the fans, who wanted to buy an album from us. It was a very creative time. Our expectations were fulfilled at the end. Because we had no label, and no professional advertisement, we made it all alone. So we had no expectations out of proportion.

Yes, “Arcana Moon” is still alive! Sure, a lot of things have changed. But I’m still working with other musicians for little cooperation’s. And I work as a writer, for some projects of “Alisha Bionda”, a publisher of dark, romantic, fantasy books. This year there had been 3 short stories of mine released, in three of Alisha’s Anthologies.
“Unter dunklen Schwingen” with my story “Unter dunklen Schwingen entscheidet der Feuerengel über die Geschicke der Welt” - a dark fantasy tale.
“Sad Roses” with my story “Der Rosengarten” - a romantic tale about a vampiregirl.
“Höllische Weihnachten” with my story “Das Zeichen der Venus” - an erotic fantasy story.
All these books can be bought at „Amazon.de“.
In 2010 you will hear somthing more from me. We are working on a new song for “Arcana Moon” and I will release more novels and maybe my first own book. We’ll see whats happen in 2010. But “Arcana Moon” will never die. I’m only going to walk on new ways.
Since november 2001 Crystal Pain was producer of my project "Arcana Moon". End of 2007 he left the project. Crystal was not only producer behind the project; we had a relationship for 6 years, until I left our twosome in august 2007. We had hope after this personal defeat that we could find the strength to work at least on a musical base. But it was not given.
Music was and will be a big part of my life besides writing. It was a hard decision, but I wanted to go ahead. And I still wanted to make music. And so I do so, with various musicians, like Kai Devin, S.C.Inc, Fusion Electronica, Captn Knoppers and much more. With “S.C.Inc”, Kai and me, we formed a little fun-project named "In[no]sen23 Bass+artz ", where we released 2 songs online at MySpace until yet. Beside this, “S.C.Inc.” released on their debut-album a song where I supported with my voice as well – it’s called “Der Trieb” – you can listen to it even at my MySpace.
You already met Kai Devin in 2007 at a radiostation, at what point did you decide to start working together on his project Psychoroika?
This was a crazy thing, because I knew one of Kais projects a long time before we ever met. I have seen his project “Abbadona” at the same music-sites where I had published my own project, the same online-magazines - which interviewed us, but our ways never crossed each other. In the beginning of year 2007 we met as colleague at a web-radio station and in July 2007 we met the first time in Real Life.
We decided to work on a song together at this meeting. So we produced our first song “Electric Lover”. In December 2007 Kai Devin wanted to have my voice again for a song. So we produced “Cold Touch” and then “Succubus”. The listeners liked those songs a lot and so Kai wanted me to be his female singer. Well, I became the second part of Psychoroika in January 2008.
You are responsible for the female vocals in Psychoroika, did you have to change a lot in your usual way of singing and was it hard to do?
Yes it was hard, because the”lovely angel” had to become a erotic vamp. Normally I had a deeper voice. For example: I love to sing songs of the German singer “Doris Nefedov”, alias Alexandra. But the former producer of “Arcana Moon” didn’t want me to sing in this way.
When I start to work with Kai Devin, he has not told me how I should sing a song, so I was sitting in my little studio at home and were listening to the songs we were working on. I was trying to sing in a lot of ways, recorded it and send the vocals to Kai. So Kai realized that my voice has a lot more color then the “angel” one and he wanted more. It became harder and harder from song to song, but I’ve learned a lot. Kai challenged me to explore my own possibilities. The angelic voice is easy to sing, but the vamp calls for sweat and blood. *grins*
As we visited S.C.Inc in April 2008, the female singer of the band - Melodrama - listened to my voice. We started to sing together and she taught me how to handle the power in my voice. Melodrama is a singer since she was a child, and has a professional trained voice. She helped me a lot.

Well, I was writing poems and short-stories a long time before I was a singer in a band. As I started writing song lyrics, I was influenced by the same emotions, dreams and fantasies as I was influenced by writing my poems and short-stories.
Often life experiences have an influence on singers (and people in general), how do your life experiences work out for you and can we hear things of that back in music?
A lot of my life-experiences found a way into my music, because as lyric writer you are the master of the words *laughs* For Example: “Kleiner Leuchtender Stern” from “Arcana Moon” – the song lyrics are written for a friend of mine who’s gone to soon from this world.
Also “Finstere Nacht” – I wrote these lyrics in a really depressive time of my life. I’ve lost all my hope and faith into friendships. I was walking alone on my way, searching for something I didn’t know about. There was only one thing I knew: One time I will meet the angel of death. Maybe it would be a little death, a change in my life. Sometimes you must destroy all known to find a new beginning. Well I wrote this Lyrics 2001 and in 2007 these words became truth.
Or “Flügel rot wie Blut” – this song I wrote on a party in “Göttingen”. We met some befriended musicians. I was in a relationship with Crys since a few weeks and I was thinking about these new feelings deep in me. A new born love is like a rose of glass, so beautiful but so fragile. It was a very new experience, and sometimes I’d liked to just run away. I was very introverted and have killed all my feelings for other people all the years before. My boyfriend realized this distance and I tried to see this relationship from his view. And in the midst of this party I wrote down the first lyrics from “Flügel rot wie Blut”. When we were producing this song, I rewrote some of the lyrics and the song was born.
Well, I’m a very dark-romantic girl ;)
You work as a radio dj, it seems music plays an important role in your life, how would you describe what music is for you?
There was a time in my life I sworn to quit listening to music, because of the fact that some music hit me hard in an emotional sense. Music is like memories and every memory gives you a special emotion. Anyways, about two years later I’ve learned that music also can help to forget or feel free. You can be drawn into deep emotions and feel like a bird – flying over the world. You can forget all negative things, floating into a world of meditation and coming back to real life. Well, it also gives me a lot of inspiration for tales and stories, when I’m writing my stories. I prefer music without lyrics in this case. Music is a very importantly part of my life and my art.

Wake up and have a lot of inspirations to write. Later, having some fun together with my special circle of friends, dancing like vampires into the night *g*
There is an inner voice that is telling me all the time: Don’t forget whatever will happen… You are not alone… because angels will never be alone.
A lot of things will happen in future, and I hope that you are ready for a new experience. Many thanks to all who still stay at my side…
