Can you give a brief introduction to Autodafeh?

AUTODAFEH is from the South of Sweden and makes hard pumping EBM/Electronic Music with glorious sing-along lyrics.

You started Autodafeh in 2007 together with Jesper, what are the original ideas you had for Autodafeh and are they still the same?

The Ideas was actually pretty simple. The story began in late 2007 when Jesper and I met again after 16 years or something.. We started to talk about forming a classical EBM-band with a new twist. I was already working with Anders in another musical project and i asked him if he wanted to join, and he did. So we formed AUTODAFEH (ADF).

How would you describe the “new twist” that you mention?

Me and Anders have worked with alot of different projects before in many various styles, this have influenced us in a new way of producing our music and I guess we're not producing EBM as we used to do and that's why we've adepted a new twist.

Autodafeh

What is ebm for you? Is it just music or is it a lifestyle?

- Both!

Can you describe what the ebm lifestyle is for you?

Well...it's a musical and fashinable lifestyle, it's pure and clean. You can be yourself and that's importent to us, and of course there's a lot of good music and a lot of good energy around the people who enjoy the EBM-scene

Many bands that use old school ebm as an influence take their influences from bands like DAF and Nitzer Ebb. Autodafeh leans more towards Front 242 in my ears, can you agree with that?

- Absolutely. Our main influences are the “Old School bands” mainly Front 242. Maybe because we were big fans of them in the 80’s and we still are :D

Several new bands play old school ebm, do you like them as much as the original bands? Or is there a difference for you between the old and new bands?

I think we're more of the old school school ourselves, because we grew up with DAF, Nitzer Ebb, SPK and  Front 242 ofcourse, but there's some new oldschool band like....K-BEREIT, SPARK!, UMM, IMPULSE CONTROL  and so on..

Autodafeh

You just opened a show for Front 242, how did it go, were you more nervous because you were opening for such an important act?

-Actually we did support them on two shows, Gothenburg and Malmo. The first gig that took place in Gothenburg was a nervous one. First of all it was big show with Front 242 you know.. Lots of peoples and meet the guys and all around it….

What can people expect from a Autodafeh liveshow?

A lot of energy and good songs ;)

Your album: Hunt for glory, is now released on Sigsaly Transmissions, how did you get in contact with them and what can you tell us about the making of the album?

We got in contact with Sigsaly via Myspace and the album was made rather quickly, we had a great time in the studio and a very nice flow when we made the songs. We got a really good response from our label and I guess that helped out.

How are the responses so far on the album?

We’ve had very good response from all over the world really, we made the no.1 spot in Germany on the DAC-chart and no. 10 in their final 2008 chart. We’ve had good reviews on webzines and magazines around the world as well, which is really enjoy able.

What are the lyrics about and what inspires you in writing them, they seem to be “in your face” ?

Jeppe writes most of the lyrics, and I guess he and we are all inspired by life really in some way.

Autodafeh

Many ebm acts have a kind of working class lyrics, abit compared to the old punk scene, is this the same?

Life is a great experience and influence to us, and we're all working class, so I guess there could be a connection to the old punk scene. ;)

What are your goals for Autodafeh?

To be able to perform and make music as long as we live, and hopefully there’s a crowd out there to enjoy it.

Any last words for the readers?

Keep it up! Keep it clean, take care of the EBM-scene and enjoy life
