Can you give a brief introduction to C-Lekktor?
Yeah sure C-Lekktor are, markko (music, lyrics, voice), [jmt] (music and lyrics) and alekkx (music and lyrics), we are from Mexico city and we exist for almost 5 years.
You started as a DJ in 1990 already, why decide to make music yourself?
Well to be honest it started just as a game, nothing was planned and I never went to a school of music or something like that, but I guess the main purpose was trying to express my own feelings and stay in the other side of the music, I mean we can be an audience or a musician, but when you hear the music as musician you appreciated a lot more, is a different feeling.
Over the years, C-Lekktor has several band members besides you, why do you think the current line- up is the strongest?
Yeah you're right. For different reasons we have changed our line-up, but I guess c-lekktor is much more based on me, definitely [jmt] will bring a lot more ideas as a musician. I’m sure that he is the perfect blend between my ideas and his own, in alekkx' case, he has recently started in the band, so I hope he too can connect with the way that we are working. This line-up seems to be much stronger, because we are growing as a band and musicians and we are really working hard to do it.
What did [jmt] and Alekkx do before they joined C-Lekktor?
[jmt] was in the beginning in a band called "acid trauma" after that he had his own solo project called "m-virus". He left the music for a while, but when he came back he joined the band. Alekkx is really a good musician, he has been involved in the electronic scene for a long time. He did some musical experiments but nothing concrete until now with this band.

How would you describe your music and how is it composed, is it a band-process or does everybody work on ideas individually?
I guess my music is much more into the ebm-electro stuff, a little bit dark and melancholic, I start the songs working on a loop, a melody or even sometimes just in my head. We work separately because we have different jobs in different places and we don’t live close to each other. In the weekends we meet each other and take our ideas with us. We talk about the things that we like about it or not, and finally together we decide the way that the song will take.
What are your influences when it comes to songwriting?
It seems both Hocico and Amduscia play an important role for electro in Mexico. Can you explain what they did for the Mexican electro scene?
Well I guess every band makes his own way, without a doubt, bands such as hocico, amduscia, cenobita, deus ex machina, artefakto and a few more, have made the world take a look into the Mexican scene. They have been exporting this music to other countries, especially Europe and with this the interest of people in other Mexican bands increased.
Most bands coming from Mexico seem to be socially aware in their lyrics, is it the same for C-Lekktor, what are the lyrics about?
So far C-Lekktor played live shows in Mexico, Chile and Peru, any plans to do more shows over the world (Europe and the USA)?
The USA is very hard for us, because is very hard to get the visa for this country. We have had several invitations to play there, but for this reason we can’t do it at the moment. We are planning to do a tour in Europe in the beginning of 2009 after the release of the official CD.

What can people expect of a live show?
A lot of energy, passion, fun and dancing moments.
In 2006 you were on the compilation album “Extreme Sündenfall” What did it bring for you, did it help you to spread your name, did you get good comments on it?
Well it brought a lot of things, we received good comments for the song and definitely this made us a little more known in Europe. Not because of this compilation, I guess it is a mixture of a lot of things, friends, press, musicians, websites (of course you are one of these). It all is part of the growth of a band. We are not the most famous band ever, but we definitely we have been recognized day after day.
Your MySpace says you will return back stronger in 2008. What are your plans for 2008 and how is it going so far, what will be the next step?
This year we played in Colombia as the first ebm international band there, so this a good motivation to keep doing the things with passion. Definitely the main event in this year for us is the release of the first official CD of C-Lekktor called "the silence procession". The CD is finished and was mixed and mastered by Jan of X-fusion. We are talking with 2 labels for the release of it and this week we will decide which one is the best for us. The CD will be in stores very soon. I guess in 1 month from now, so this will mark a new age for the band.
On your website you offer 2 albums as free downloads, what made you decide to do so?
Yeah it is true, this was done for all our friends around the world that asked us for our music. A way to say thank you to all those people that have been supporting us through all these years and of course for the promotion of the official CD. We want to give first and then receive I mean with this we want to motivate the people to buy the new CD. We hope this works..
On the cloned and mutated CD you have a cover of Suicide Commando, why did you pick this track?
As I told you I’m a big fan of Johan’s music and he is a good friend of mine. A few years ago we played the first official Suicide Commando tribute here along with Acid Trauma. Each band played 6 covers from them and we received a lot of demands for this cover so I decided to record the vocals and put it on the disc.

When will there finally be a full length album available of C-Lekktor?
Very soon if things are going well. I guess in one month.
Any last words for the readers?
Yeah, thanx to you and all the readers for this interview. We hope to meet you very soon and be ready for the "silence procession".
thanx
