Who is Emileigh Rohn?

The founder of Chiasm, a solo female electro project on COP International records, from Detroit, MI, USA

If you could organise the ultimate festival, with any artists playing you want, death or alive who would play there?

Probably lots of dead people and bjork. Maybe Mozart and me of course :). And with some amazing looking out on an ocean or a secluded
location on a river, in a forest or something.

Both Side-line magazine and Sonic Seducer called you (together with Unter Null and Android Lust) the leading lady of electro. What does such a huge compliment do to you?

I't just ignites me to work harder and focus on my originality

You are now recording your new album "Reform". What can we expect from it? And what do you expect from it yourself?

More of my life in music form. I tend to write in bits and pieces, so now I'm in the process of taking everything I've done in the past  year or so and trying to assemble it in some coherent manner while keeping it interesting. And there's a lot to go through, quite a bit I'd forgotten about too, so it's always fun to suprise myself.

What attracs you in remixing others artists music?

I like getting my hands dirty and exploring as much as possible. It also helps me to keep busy and think of new ways about approaching things in the studio, both technically and creatively. And it feels good to help inspire others in hearing new interpretations of their work.

You have a real busy job? How do you manage to combine it with music and your family life?

My work in the medical research laboratory is full time during regular business hours, so I divide up what's left of my time accordingly. I do have a home studio so that helps a bit, but it's not difficult to drag me out of the house for quality family time with the right incentives. I do manage to keep sleep a priority somehow, though. I love sleeping.

You worked with so many other musicians already, with whom would you love to work, someday in the future?

I really have no idea, i'm just looking forward to more music and new experiences. I guess I most enjoy working with people that want to work with me. It's supposed to be fun right??

You've been in a movie....  can we expect more of that or was it just once?

I'd say that was a one time thing for extinguish, it was an art film short, I appeared while in grad school, and I'm currently doing the post soundtrack for but I've had my music in some other independent films and series by Thought Collide as the NCIS Network TV show. so I'de look forward to more of that, soundtrack work, ect.

Everybody has an addiction (smoking, chocolate, chatting). What is yours?

Coffee for certain, and sudoku at the moment.

In Europe we have never seen a Chiasm concert. What can we expect from a Chiasm concert?

Me on stage singing with some live keyboards, the rev on bass and guitar, lots of noise and jumping around and some crazy lab-based video effects. Always a fun time, I'm just excited to be there

Emileigh Rohn

What are your dreams for the future (not only musicwise)?

I'd love to travel more, I've never been overseas so it would be a great experience some of that. And maybe play a few shows along the way.

How does the ultimate Emileigh day looks like?

Get up way too early, pet the kitties, go to work, pet the viruses, drive home, pet the husband, eat something, pet the keyboards, sleep, repeat.

If you could ask a fortuneteller one question about your future, what would it be?

Will I live to see the apocalypse.

What attracs you in making music for video games? Do you play videogames yourself a lot?

I think the listening mode that games put people into is simular to that during driving mode, people are in better mental place for listening while focusing in that way then they would be in a club dancing or talking. So I think they hear more, they notice more and I appreciate that. I don't play a lot of videogames but I like Project Gotham and all forms of Pinball.

What does the Chiams logo mean?

The Chiams logo is based off the medical diagram of the optic chiasm,  the neuronal structure in the brain allowing for continuous and peripheral vision.

Anything else you want to say?

Thank you for interviewing me. I'll have a new album out in 2007 on COP International Records. Feel free to find me on Myspace.
