Who is Client?

We are an electronic pop trio with a dark underbelly. 

When and why did you decide to start a career in music?

I started playing the flute at 11 years old.. Sarah stated singing at the age of 3... Emily joined the school choir! We all have music in our blood!

With whom would you like to share a stage for a concert?

Your album was no1 in the Amazon electric charts, where you surprised?

Of course!!

Who yelled the loudest or had the strangest reaction when you discovered you were no 1?

We don’t look at chart positions as they are made by and for the Major labels.

How did the three of you celebrated it?

We didn’t even know!


How do you prepare for a live show, what do you do against the nerves?

Drink, get dressed, put on eyelashes! 

So what’s the favourite drink before a live show?

Kate – chardonnay white wine
Emily – fizzy white wine
Sarah..red bull

Do you girls ever get into a fight with each other?

Sometimes but never bad… just over silly things!!

What was the silliest you had a fight about?

Can’t remember..proably when we Em and sarah almost missed the flight to St Petersburg as they were at the wrong gate and the plane shut the doors without them!


Who is a big influence for you, musically or personally?

For me -  Client A – David Bowie and Kraftwerk with Milan Kundera  thrown in.
For Sarah – She likes Gustav Klimpt and Morrissey
Emily likes more dark stuff like Nitzer Ebb and anything Gothic!


We were surprised you got signed by Out of Line, a great label of  course, but most of the music is more EBM minded. How did you get in contact with them?

Andre from the label got in contact with us! And we loved his enthusiasm and love of the band.


Did you knew the bands that are signed to Out of Line or did it open a new world?

We knew of the bands of course…it is funny to be label mates! And  nice too as we are probably the most pop band on the label!


Last year you were on tour with Covenant and Rotersand, what is the  funniest memory you have on that?

They treated us really really well… lovely people!! The funniest  thing was when they cleared out the bus they found all their shoes  and trainers in plastic bags as me and Sarah had tidied them all up  as they smelt too much!!


Once a month you organise a club night under the name Being Boiled? Why did you start with that?

To inflict our music on everyone there!

How do you pick the bands that play there, do you handle the bookings  yourself?

We book all the bands ourselves


What makes your blood boil?

In music it seems talent does not guarantee success… Look at the  charts!!! They are rubbish!!!! We hate the major labels!!! That is why all our new labels are all independents!!! Loose EMI GO DIY!


You also run a record label as well, what can we expect from that in  the near future?

I have just released the solo album from Brix Smith of the Fall and  expect to just release interesting music that I love… Not for any  real commercial sensibility!!


Do you have time for any hobbies besides Client, Being Boiled and the  record label?

Emily – paints
Sarah – runs
Kate – horse rides


If you had to knit a sweater for someone, for who would you make it  and how would it look like?

Actually I can knit a bit! It would be a sweater hat for the lovely  Robert Gorl to keep his lovely shaved head warm and cosy….
