Who is Courtney Bangert?

Yikes - this question reminds me of the first day in a class at school. I’m just a chic  – a quiet, down-to-earth, open-minded, considerate, person – with a teensy streak of evil. I like to think that I am creative to a certain degree. I’m married to the crazy mastermind of God Module and together we have a cat.

To what kind of music did you listen when you were a kid?

When I was real young, I was always drawn to the catchy pop songs. Then I started to really get into synth-pop. My favorites were Depeche Mode and Erasure for quite a while. Then the Cure. Then Bauhaus, Siouxsie and your token Goth stuff. Eventually I worked my way into some of the harder industrial, then EBM stuff.

When you were a kid what was you biggest dream? And did you realize it?

My biggest dream… that’s a secret. And I’m still working on it. 

How is to be in the same band as your man?

Great. We get along wonderfully – don’t ever seem to have the common relationship problems that your average couples seem to have, so working in the band with Jasyn is great. Whenever we get to go somewhere to perform a show, it’s always a fun little adventure. Not too many couples get to do what we do, so it seems extra special in some ways.

If you could organise a festival with every artist (even dead ones) who would play there?

In my current mood, I would say… Nick Cave, Social Distortion, Tiger Army, Calabrese, Ghoultown…

What is spooky-dancing music for you?

Any of my favorite dance-able songs by Hocico, Mesh, Iris, Imperative Reaction, De/Vision…

You did some quest-vocals on other projects, is there any project you would love to do vocals for?

Hmmm… I don’t think so.

How would the ultimate Courtney-day look like?

No work. Just a day for Jasyn & I to be able to be able to hang out together without feeling guilty that we’re not getting “this” done or  not getting “that” done. We always have waaaaay too much going on.

How do you prepare for a concert?

Vodka/Red Bull.

What do you expect from the new CD? And the tour?

I expect that overall the new CD will do very well. I think there will be, of course, a few people here and there that won’t get it. It’s a little different then the previous CDs. It’s not a BIG stretch from previous material – it’s just got a fun little “spooky” edge to it. Hopefully the tour shows will go well. Feedback in anticipation of those shows has been tremendous, so hopefully that’s a good sign!

What’s your biggest fear on stage?

Fear? I have no fear.
