Can you give a brief introduction of the band?

- Our band was made in summer of 2008 in Moscow. The music of the band is like a mix  of some kinds of music like dark-electro, future-pop and trance. We call this mix “dark-future”. Gasp of fresh air to the dark-scene which is dying slowly =)

Can you explain the name De:Source?

- De:Source – is an antonym of the word “source”.  This is a thing which has a destructive temper for everything. This is the thing which gives the end for everything. “Desource” can be any machine or a weapon; place or time; matter, substance… Or it can also be God!

The members of De: Source are Damien Poll and Lumefealle. Did you play in other bands before and how did you meet?

- Oh yes,  we are musicians with some experience! Now I’m a keyboard player and an arranger of the famous Moscow Cyber-Goth band “Unreal”. Lumefealle was a front-woman of the dark-avantgard project “Etrincoma”. We met at a Darkwave-party where she and her band were appearing on stage. And we became  very big friends! Presently she offered me her help in a project which was in Germany.

You released your first promo and it did really well in Russia. It reached the 2nd place on the Russian website Synthema. How do you feel about this achievement?

- It gives a good incentive to us! Now we are sure that we work adultly. People named us as the best band – the hope of the Russian Dark-scene and they compared us with European monsters =). Now we have fans and we know that they are waiting for us and they want to hear our music.

How do you look back on this promo album? How did the recordings go and will you change things for the debut album?

- It was easy. I’ve just uploaded tracks on to the net for discussion for some people – I know some critics, and when we had enough tracks one my friends offered me an appearance on “Synthema”. The main goal of that promo was winning a reputation and show our tracks for thousands of people. And the goal has been reached =). People listen to our music not only in Russia, but also in the USA, Germany, Latin America and somewhere else. Our next goal is to record our highest quality album and release it on one of the best European label.

What is the hardest part for you in writing and recording songs?

- For me the most difficult thing is mixing. I always strive to have brand new sound, but now I ‘m not able to do this. And in general people with true profession must do this.

The strongest point of De: Source in my eyes is the songwriting and especially the way you blend several influences to a homogenic track. How do you do this?

-Oh, it does itself. I like the interesting progressive sound, trance synths and gloomy charm atmosphere. I’m bored of listening to monotonous dark-electro with it’s dirty lead-synth’s, the dry sound of all mixes and too affected aggression. All this makes me remember situations with true-black metal, when you become older you understand that this music only makes you laugh. You don’t have to shout about hatred, and show everybody you are “true & evil”. Hatred can be quiet but more penetrating and punitive. Music of De:Source doesn’t go to clear future pop or to clear trance because there  are distorted vocals.which personifies this hatred. But  the atmosphere of the tracks is full of tragedy. It is a cocktail which I like. It is the music which I love.

What are your sources of inspiration?

- I try to listen to a lot of music, because music is the main source of inspiration for me. Any interesting melody can get a hold of me or any special mood of the track. In De:Source the music is made first then the text. Lumefealle writes the majority of the texts. She exactly understands the mood of  a track and in her lyrics she touches and opens themes and thoughts which were in my head. And movies are a good sources of inspiration too.

You are now working on the debut album, what can you tell us already? Will it all be new tracks or some of the promo tracks as well?

- On the album there will be some tracks from the promo, they will have a new arrangement. The album is promised to be an interesting occurrence in the swarze-scene. I don’t know how fans will react but I know they will be surprised.

De:Source

On which label will it be released?

- We don’t know. We are now looking for a label. Soon we’ll release a special limited promo EP. And the goal of this is to get attention from labels. When a contract is signed we’ll record a debut album.

Did you do some live concerts already or are you planning to do them?

- Yes we gave some concerts and understood that it's a waste of time now. In Moscow most people only go to concerts of the monsters of the West in the scene. So we need to move to Germany, release some good albums and maybe after this, big promoters will earn money on us. Hahahahha)))

Last few years some really talented bands from Russia surfaced, what can you tell us about the Russian scene of these days?

- Russia was always behind on the West. Today’s  Swarze-scene in Russia finished stage of origin and it is on stage of precocity (?). A lot of young projects appear, but unfortunately only half of them is observable. And only units have perspectives on the West. Shit, even there is nobody who can make good mastering. So it’s far to Germany. But I hope it is temporarily.

Any last words for the readers?

-At first I’d like to thank you and your portal that you paid attention  to us and our project! It is really important for us on stage of a career of an artist. Hope most of who will read this interview will be interested in our music and will be looking through our album. European listeners are the best! Stay industrial. Have faith in oneself and what you do. Cheers from Russia!  Mind - Damien Poll & soul – Lumefealle. De:Source of your gloom! ;))
