Hi Diversant, thank you for doing this interview with us, how are you doing?
Hi, i`m fine as usual, thanks :)
Before you started Diversant 13 you were active in other projects, can you tell us a bit more about your musical background?
Well, i`m a professional pianist. I`ve been doing music since i was 5 years old, so i can say that music is all in my life :)
What was the reason for you to start Diversant 13, what did you miss in the other bands?
Well, it was like a wish to express my thoughts and music inclinations in the other way, than in used to do it. Yet i always was a great fan of industrial music.
How would you describe the music of Diversant 13 yourself, what are sourced of influence for you?
I always adore music of Wumpscut & Suicide Commando, so it`s my one of the most favourite bands of all time.
I can describe my music as a mixture of powerful beats together with the catchy synths and
energetic melodies. It`s the music you can listen at home and dance on the dancefloor at the same time.
Can we consider Diversant 13 to be a soloproject with the help of extra members for live shows or is Diversant 13 a full band these days?
It`s a full band nowadays, providing energetic live shows. So we can consider Diversant:13 being rather an independent project.
How do you create the music of Diversant 13, do you always work the same way?
It`s always happens in different ways. I can write a good beat, or just play a great melody. But i`ll never create arrangements in the same way. That`s way i like very much.
Who are the other members and what is their role / input in the band?
My second brother in arms, GRVR takes a great part in creating music. He writes guitar arrangements also as he takes great part in the whole arrangements of the songs.
Last year you released a first ep already called “burn the witch experience”. Why did you release it as a free download?
It was not our first effort, the first ep was called “ Soulreaper”. The reason we`ve made it was just a good opportuinty for all the listeners and fans to spread a word about Diversant:13, to get more audience of our music. I think, we managed to do it, before preparations for our full-length album. I think all music fans must hear what they will expect from our album in future, that`s why we`ve made it free download.
How were the comments on this ep and how do you look back on it yourself?
We didn`t expect so many good comments on our work, to be trully honest. Nevertheless,
It was one more approval that we`ve made it all right and we shouldn`t stop making music in this way. People really liked our Ep, and that`s more than great.
Most often a first ep can be considered to be a learning experience, was it the same for you and if so, what is the most important lesson that you learned. In what way did the new ep “glamour and Pathos” benefit from it?’
Well. We never stop in great experience of creating music, we are always looking for new destinations for our work, upgrading sounds,arrangements and tracks. In furthercoming release called “ Soulreaper Redux” you`ll see the evolution how our band just still keep moving in sound design.
Glamour & Pathos is a very specific release, that just was made in more humorous way, and it became a little experiment for us. Here we`re not going to approve the sounds but just we wanted to express the poor situation in russian ebm-scene. But, of course, it doesnt concern some really great bands, of course :).
The first ep had lyrics in English while the new one has only Russian lyrics, why did you do this?
We`re not going to write all our tracks on Russian, it was just, as i said, a little experiment, to tell some of our russian friends about the truth of all things jsut on their the most understandable language platform :)
When I take a look at the artwork it seems that the ep has a concept idea, can you tell us abit more about the concept behind this ep?
Yep, it has a specific concept of course. We wanted to show how it looks like, when an industrial band can become a glamour star with all features of star life. We noticed almost every poor side of such a life and told people of some disguisting way of life that cannot bring you a good end, finally.It`s a humoruous side, of course and it`s only so-called image, Though i think we manage to do it sucessfully.
The ep has a cover of the Ukranian band Ungrace, why put a cover on the ep?
It`s our friends, they liked our track and decided to make a cover track which is also sucessfully played by them in live concerts.
What are your goals for this ep, what should it bring you?
Of course, to draw listener`s attention, of course to some kind of the problems, to make them realize what is good what is wrong in situation on the scene. And we managed to do it on our native speaking language for good understanding. All the tracks on this release are very controversial, but, nervertheless, but they all worth listening. By the way, a reaction for this work, was great, i think we`ve made great work :)
You just signed a deal with the Russian label Synthematic, hwo did you get in contact with them and will the new ep be a digital release only or will there be physical cd’s as well?
We still remain an unsigned band and we are not attached to any of labels. As Synthematic is widely known among russian public, we thought that it would be a great idea to spread our word about russian glamour via these guys :) So they helped us great:)We are still looking for a label for our debut full-length work, it`s release will happen next year.
How do you look on the Eastern European scene today, lately many good new electro bands are surfacing, do you have an explanation for this?
The scene is developing, bringing to it really good bands, The quality of their tracks is a really more than great, because they never stop creating thei music, improving their sound. Be ready to see some more of them in further future, and you will be convinced that Eastern European scene is the scene with a really strong and rich background,what for Russian scene, we can admit such bands like De:Source, Sleetgrout,Zweifelhaft, Ginger snaps and others, They are all really need your attention.
