Neikka RPM

Who is Dominique?

I am an International Woman of Leisure and I am also the front-girl for the Industrial N’ Beats band, Neikka RPM.

What are your inner demons?

Procrastination!

What kind of things to you tend to delay then?

Oh well, I guess nearly everything!  You know the usual stuff…in school I was that girl always doing the all-nighter study session.
Down to the last minute, every time!

As a kid to what music did you listen?

I discovered music a little late in my childhood. It was like I found out about bands and artists long after they first became famous.

With whom would you like to share the stage for a concert?

Hmm, I don’t know.  I think I would prefer to watch my favorite artists perform on stage instead of being on stage with them.  But I must say that I would love to have a chat with David Bowie. Or if I could turn back the clock, I’d love to meet to Bettie Page.

One of your tracks is called “Voyeur”. Who would you like to watch secretly?

Definitely Richard, the other half of Neikka RPM.

With whom would you like to debate and about what?

I debate with myself everyday about everything.

What was the strangest debate you had with yourself, about what were you debating?

Oh, well a big question is always just what to wear to my next slumber-party pillow fight, hmmm sorry just being silly…

What was your last dream about?

I was wandering around a city. I have no clue what the dream was about.

Who are your role models and why?

Lee Krazner, Louise Nevelson. They really put women on the map for art and expressionism.

Besides music what for of art do you prefer? Are you making art yourself as well besides music?

I am very interested in abstract impressionism paintings. Yes, I use to create large-scale paints myself. But honestly I just don’t have time for that these days, way too busy.

Do you think music is art?

Oh yes, definitely.  Any arena that is an extension of yourself, your ideas or your feelings, is Art.

Dominique

What are your values in life?

Just the basics, I treat people the way I want to be treated.

Why did you become a singer?

I like vocals because you can evoke some many different images. You can tell a story or you can be vague yet still convey an emotion.  I like to express feelings.

What is your favourite emotion or do you also believe you need them all to be in balance?

I believe all emotions, in balance, are important. We are human. We need to  learn about ourselves, to know ourselves. To experience all emotions is to be alive.

In what country would like to play and why that country?

Hm, well I have a lot of friends in Belgium so that would be a cool trip. There’s a pretty good interest in Neikka RPM in Germany so I ‘d say that would be great destination.

Do you believe in “unlucky 13” Are you superstitious?

No, I’m not superstitious.  But I do enjoy listening to other people’s theories.

What would you do if you get diarrhea on stage?

Come on now, you know girls don’t ever go to the bathroom.

Some of the pictures you made for Neikka RPM are pretty reveiling, did the shooting make you feel inconvenient?

No not at all, the photo-art is my own vision.  Part of the whole concept of Neikka RPM is an aura of subtle seduction and the pictures are there to…hopefully support that theme. But honestly I don’t know how people perceive the pictures, I hope that they spark the imagination and add another dimension for a person while they listen to the album.

How much does playboy/hustler have to offer you for a good shoot? Would you ever consider it if they asked?

Hehe, are yooooou flirting with me (wink)? Well, I’ll tell you that there is a certain mystique to Playboy.  It is an icon, a legend…

Any last words for the readers?

I would just like to say, “Thank you” for the opportunity to be in your zine!
