Who is Frightdoll?

An artist, a dreamer, an observer. Someone who is completely defined, yet completely abstract.

How did you get into the music scene? What were your first steps?

I always knew that what I really wanted to do was work on music. At 8 years old, I was already writing songs for myself. The first step I took was that I decided to start investing in my music project by recording a few songs at a producer’s home studio. However, I quickly realized that I didn’t just want to write my own songs, I wanted to be able to fully express myself by producing my own music. It’s really mostly about the process of making my music. Being able to make my own music is one of the things that really fulfils me.

Your myspace profile tells us you love rain. Why?

I love the sound of rain. I like watching rain fall. It’s almost as if everything was being cleansed and all things unwanted were being washed away.

How do you prepare for a concert?

I’m usually very hectic before shows, so I like being able to focus on setting up and having a bit of time to myself.

And how do you get back to yourself afterwards?

Well, so far from what I’ve experienced, right after a show I almost have a huge sense of relief accompanied with a great rush of energy ;)

You just recorded your debut album. What can we expect and what do you expect?

Reference Version delves into the interaction between consciousness and technology and poses a search for a sense of self within a medium in which the distinctions between the human mind and digital processes have become blurred. Musically, this album allowed me to find the direction in which I want to take my project. It is a growing process for me, so what I expect is to be able to better express my ideas through my work.

What are your personal goals and how do you plan to achieve them?

In addition to being successful with my music project, I would like to find true balance in my life and be able to walk in the path of truth and wisdom. I would like to be a positive influence in other people’s lives and inspire others to be true to themselves and walk their own paths as well.

We know you as an emotional person. Is it hard for you to transform emotions into lyrics?

Emotions? I thought I could get away with being a robot ;)

Everyone has an addiction, what is yours?

Corsets, boots, star shapes, strawberries, and ice cream!

What CD doesn’t come out of your CD player right now?

Aw, do I have to answer this honestly? The CD’s that are in my CD player right now are German speaking lessons =p

Rumour goes you have a concert in Latvia, how did you get to that?

I will be opening up as the support band for Noisex in Riga, Latvia on June 15th, 2007. I am definitely looking forward to this show, but am both very excited and nervous about playing overseas for the first time ;)

What is your biggest dream and what is your biggest fear?

Can I say that both my biggest dream and worst fear is becoming a rock star? ;) Seriously though, I would like to find a simple sense of happiness in my life by accepting my experiences through an unattached perspective. As far as my biggest fear? Being a disappointment to myself.
