Hi Cracx, thank you for doing this interview. How are you doing?

Hi! Not at all! I'm doing well.

You started with Hazz[art] in 2007, what musical experience did you have prior to Hazz[art]?

In 1999 I founded  the Noise/Electro project called "söldnerX" evolved into the Industrial & Powernoise project "hum/drum" in 2003. It was also the ground on which the Harsh Electro project "hazz[art]" was built on in 2007. As a child i joined the school choir and took voice lessons. Does that matter?  ;-D

What did trigger you to become a musician?

I'm living an eventful life with sickness, rancor and pain. I digest all experiences this way.

Hazz[art]  came out of the noise/electro scene, what made you decide to change the musical direction, how did your music evolve over the years?

Among others I was influenced by bands like Suicide Commando and Hocico. I still love their works. I decided to try making music on a similar way. The result was hazz[art]. You might discern a difference... :-)

Hazz[art]

How would you describe your own music?

“Distorted vocals, tough beats and catchy synths. Moving lyrics, cynicism and split personality - all boxed in an impressive musical way.”
This is an exact specification, I think.

How is the music of Hazz[art] created, do you always follow the same routine?

I use a really spare equipment. It works for me. As soon as I start thinking about my doing, i'll bring out a load of bullshit. When I hit on an musical idea I put into practice immediately.

What are your lyrics about?

My lyrics are about hate, agonies, death, religion/faith and assholes. If somebody/something fucks me off, i'll write about that. The upcomin' album is called “Shut the fuck up.” There's a reason for that, like for whatever I impress by music.

You have released several singles already? How do you look back on those releases and how were the comments on it?

Most people  sent sweet feedback to me. This is something to be proud of, I guess. I don't like to brood on the past, cuz this is a bygone era. I always expect what's the next up on the agenda! =)

Hazz[art]

You are currently working on a full length album, what can you tell us about it already?

I can tell you, that the album release date was September 2010. I needed to reschedule this date cause of health reasons. The album comes up this month, possibly for free or voluntary donations to my donation campaign. It's a really multifaceted album. From aggression to melancholy … all that matters. =)

Recently you released an ep called “Friss oder Stirb”, why is this such a special ep  to you?

First of all this single is another new musical deflection in my life. My music seems to me more professional than ever. The sound changed a bit... What do you think? =) Beyond this single is for free or voluntary donations to kids suffering from cancer.

Kids suffering from cancer is a subject that is very close to your heart, what are you hoping that “Friss oder stirb” does for this, raise awareness?

With this single I want to set an example. Dark music becomes more and more a business competition. Everybody wants to earn money, but money shouldn't be the main spirit of music or any arts. The spirit should be pleasure, mental balance/stimulus and finally fun.

You suffered from cancer yourself, what kind of influence did this have on your life and thinking?

It fundamentally changed my personality and whilst I gained a lot from it. My eyes are wide open and I think outside the box - more i'm able to take. Besides i'm very cynical and i'd like to think that i'm really nuts. =)

Hazz[art]

You are also running the label Cracx Tracx Music, what made your start your own label?

It's very simple. It was needed for distributing my music in a better way.

What are your goals for the label, to release your own music or do you want it to become bigger and release other bands as well?

All bets are off! It's quite possible to sign other bands in the future. The entering wedge was the release of our label compilation “cracx tracx sampler (I+II)”. BTW... band applications for our label compilation series are always welcome. (=

Besides Hazz[art] you are also a member of Tanzradar and Hum/Drum, why having several projects? Can’t you express yourself
in one band?

I like much different styles. Bias never was my strong point. For every frame of mind - an own musical project. =) Sometimes I need it distorted and noisy, another time I like the spherical sound of synthesizers. My biggest love is punk rock, but I can't play guitar. I've tried to make some digital guitar sounds, but it sounds like chicken poop. =D

What will be next for Hazz[art]?

I'll release some nice stuff, playing some shows and hope to survive unscathed this year. Some dreams should become true. Playing some international shows for example... I'd really love it! Invite me to the Netherlands... ;-)

Any last words for our readers?

Hi folks! Don't make differences between species! Meet every living creature with respect and love, but fight against all who torture, kill and destroy being! I'll fight them at the risk of losing my life ever. It's worth fighting for freedom and life... Keep your eyes open and take always care! Thank you! Best wishes -cracx-
