Who is Lilitha?
A woman with Personality and opinions about life and the world in general, and who likes to get them heard. Someone with hopes and dreams and ambitions on which she's ready to work hard on to make them come true! A surviver and a shapeshifter.
How would you describe your character?
Well, I'm, like said, quite ambitious. Open-minded and trustworhty. Loyal to the end to the people I love. Analytic, sometimes I tend to think way too much about all things (hee ;) but I'm curious and always willing to learn new things and develop myself as a human being, as well as to learn completely new skills. I'd like to think I have a good sense of humor, though maybe quite sarcastic sometimes. ;) But in general I try not to take life too seriously, I just take things like they are and try to make my life as goos as I just can.
You started working with computers and synthesizers in 2006, did you play instruments before and why change to electronic music?
I've played the piano since I was 7 years old. Went to lessons then and all. Over the years I've played with variating frequency, and when I got older I started to play the keyboards more and more. Having listened many years of metal music my taste and interests just started to go more and more into the electronic music. Like you change as a human being over the years, also your musical taste changes. Gets more close to what you really like and what you really are, it morphs. And in electronic music I've kind of found my "home" in music. It can describe me bestly, my character and my feelings. And when starting to compose my own songs with computers and synthesizers it got even more important to me. But ever since I firstly was introduced into this genre, I've felt it to be the most closest in my heart, even though I still do listen a lot of different genres. To make it short, electronic music is just Me.
Who are rolemodels for you and what influence does Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo have on you?
Dietrich and Garbo are one of my role models for sure. They were the kind of women who took and got what they wanted. They had dreams and they managed to make them true. They were independent, strong women, who lived like they wanted and not like they were expected to live by other people. They had the courage to reach for their ambitions and they succeeded. And that's a thing what you must admire and appreciate! Even nowadays when things are a bit different and women are also excepted to do more than in the older days. They had glory and style, and they were Personalities, fascinating characters. Great examples for anyone. Many of my other rolemodels are also other independent and strong women, but if talking about musical rolemodels, I'd say for example the bands like Front 242, FLA, and VNV Nation. Bands who have "showed the way" in electronic music in their own, unique way.

Beati Mortui had a 2nd place in Sonic Seducers battle of the bands, what was your first reaction when you heard it, what was the first thing you did?
Hmm...don't remember for sure anymore what I did exactly, but the first reaction was a bit of surprised, for sure. SS being quite a big magazine and all, and there were 50 bands in the competition after all. But of course, I was so happy and very excited! It was such a great result, gave much trust to what we are doing, to get to know that people had really liked our song. And I think that the first thing I did after discovering the results, was that I told it about to my best friends.
Electronic music is often cold (especially when it’s more harsh) but in my ears, Beati Mortui songs have a soul, how do you keep a soul in electronic music?
First of all, thank you for this comment. Because that's exactly what we have tried to do, to keep a soul in every one of our songs. I think that maybe it comes from the real feelings and real-life experiences what we have put into them, from what they've been born, to every song some of us has given a bit of her-/himself, a bit of her/his soul.
How do you work on songs and where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspirations comes mostly from the everyday life in general. We make observations, and as we live, we learn more things about life (hopefully). Just the things of which we usually learn the most from are the more bad and gloomier ones, but maybe that's just how it is and has always been. Bad things just tends to make us think more deeply and makes us to find new strengths in ourselves, they raise and develops us as humans. And I/we want to tell about the things which I/we have learned over the years, so that maybe they can even help someone and/or maybe they will give a kind of comfort and strength to some people. How I work on songs is that usually what comes first to me is the melody of the song, and I start with recording the main melody. Into that I will continue to build up the structure, and different parts of the song, drums, basslines, backing synths, arpeggiators, effects, piece by piece. The lyrics usually come when the song is already mostly done. Sometimes I already do have some lyrics, but when the music is done, you usually have to modify the lyrics, to make them fit into the song properly. So in the end the lyrics can end up being totally different that they were at the start. Think it's also just more easier to do the music first. The words will then come, 'cause they come from the specific feeling of which you had when you created the song. But basicly doing a song is like building a house, one piece after another, untill even the rooftop is done.

I prefer both! Both has their own good sides as well as the bad sides. But when you're able to do both of them, they'll balance each other very nicely and makes it way more interesting. You also get different things from both of them.
You will tour in Europe later this year, what do you expect from this, how do you prepare yourself for being on tour?
First of all, I'm really looking forward for this! It's my first tour ever with any band and as a musician, so I think it will be very interesting and educational, too. I expect to meet lots of new and interesting people, to see new places and to have the opportunity to play in many places and to do many different shows. I don't yet have any special way how I'll prepare myself for tour, except rehearsing a lot with my bandmates, of course. But I think that the closer the starting date is coming, the more excited I'll become. But I think that it will be quite hard work, too. Since we're going to have many shows and sometimes there's no off-days in between. So you'll have to be prepared to really work, and to do a lot of things and travelling can sometimes be quite tough, too. But with the right kind of attitude you'll survive and keep your spirits up!
You also have your own sideproject, Decadent Masquerade, what is the current status of it?
Recently I haven't had much time to do any new songs for it, 'cause most of my time has gone with the main band, Beati Mortui. But I will do some stuff for it as well, when I'll again have the time and inspiration. And since it's just my "own musical playground", I don't have any schedules or anything with it, I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. Though one of my songs, "Nightly Horrors", was invited and included on the newest "Vaws vol.V"-compilation CD, which was published in Germany this May and given to people as a promotional stuff for example in this years' WGT. So some news from this project as well.
