Can you give the readers a brief introduction to the band?

Man and Machines is an industrial/electronic project that expresses the relationship between man and machine and touches on themes of war, religion, love, and emotion. Man and Machines live represents the best that a live industrial/electronic band can offer.

What are the members of Man and Machines; were you involved in any other music projects before?

The members of Man and Machines are Ricki Gunz (Me, Music, Production and Vocals), Angi Gunz (Vocals and Lyrics) and Faris Xero (Live Keys, Lighting and Live Sampling).

Can you explain the name Man and Machines?

Man and Machines is a name that correlates the relationship between Man and Machine, and thus exudes the whole industrial theme.

You released a teaser for the upcoming album, how are the responses?

So far the response has been great, with over 600 copies sold independently by ourselves, we are gearing up for something bigger very soon.

What lessons did you learn from recording this teaser, what things will you do differently for the first full-length album?

Recording this demo really was a learning experience in making structured songs and learning production techniques. The full-length cd will have some other material  never before heard by our fans. The theme is a post apocalyptic cyberpunk/horror vibe with a visual for the audience as well as an audible story.

How important is the Internet for a young band like Mand and Machines, it seems you already have a widespread fanbase?

Yes thanks to the internet we have garnered quite a fan base thus making it easier to promote shows in other areas of the country and gaining fans never thought possible. Myspace is a big help for new and upcoming bands.

Can you tell a bit more on the full-length album, what can people expect from it?

What people can expect is a album that will make them question their own beliefs and look into themselves to see what is most important in life. The songs are very aggressive, dancy and downright scary at times. There is also going to be a futuristic war type vibe to the album. The influences are vast on this cd including early 90’s techno/industrial, sci-fi movies, horror and religion.

What do you expect from this album yourself, what should it bring you to make you a happy man?

The part that will make me happy is the hard work that it will take to complete this work of art. This has been a long process in the making and I am working on making this a pinnacle record of electronic music.

I asked this one to Angi as well I guess, you are in the band with your sister. Is making the music based on a chemistry or musical friction?

Well there is never any friction. I do pretty much all the music and my sister does a lot of the lyrics. She totally understands the vibe of the songs I write.

How important is the visual part for Man and Machines?

Well for me, when I go to see a band I don’t want to fucking see a normal looking dude on stage. The plan from the get go with Man and Machines was to bring shock and eye candy to the audience and therefore expressing more the vision that is deep seeded in the songs themselves. Both play an equal part in the expression of what we are trying to convey.

Some people say that the use of blood on stage is a gimmick for many bands, what do you think of such a statement?

Well it can be a gimmick if done wrong or with no strong base of a song or message. The blood is just a visual part of the live show. The blood also symbolizes war, pain, death and also in a morbid way beauty. I am sure many will compare us to other bands that use this, but they will find our message is deep if they listen to the songs.

Man and Machines is very active on stage, since you haven’t played in Europe so far, what can people expect from a show?

What people can expect is a live fucking show that will kick your ass! When people pay to see a show, THEY NEED TO SEE A FUCKING SHOW!

Are you still handling everything yourself (bookings, contacts, merchandise) isn’t that almost impossible to do at this point?

As of right now Man and Machines is handling all the booking, contacts and we have a solid company we work with here in Orlando where we get our merch made.

Is this management side sometheing you like or something that has to be done?

Well it is something that has to be done. I would actually prefer doing most of that myself until someone who knows more would come along who we could trust. I am a pretty OCD person when it comes to such things.

Any last words for the readers?

We expect to give the fans (if I may be so bold) a pinnacle work of art in electronic music with the up and coming cd. Every song will be the best it can to make people think and feel emotion, which is the most important part of what we do.
