Who is Miranda St. Croix? Please introduce yourself.

I very often have difficulty answering questions like these because I don't fit nicely into a box or a label that people like to use. I mean there are some things about me that are typical such as having an affinity for darker things and liking electronic music. However I feel I'm a very eclectic person and because of that, it will probably take some more to get a better picture of who I am. But to make it easy, I play keys and do lyrics for Derma-Tek.

Most females play in more poppy acts, why do you play more harsh?

I have a very aggressive side. Maybe it's the New York in me. Maybe it's just me but somehow it has to get out and I use music as a catharsis to make that happen.

As a kid to what music did you listen?

Heh. Uh well I was all over the place. This comes back to the eclectic thing. I listened to a lot of R & B, way old skool hip-hop, reggae and latin music. Because of this, I have a very soulful voice as I was influenced from a young age. I also listened to a lot of old new wave and synthpop. At what age is the cut off? I'm still a kid. :)

In the past you did modelling as well? Did you quit and if so, why?

Yes I quit. Basically I got into it to make Derma-Tek more popular but I found it was taking me away from Derma-tek. So I left to concentrate on my true love which is music.

If you could ask one question about your future, what will that question be?

I only get one?

Miranda

What is your biggest fear?

Failure.

What are your goals in music and life in general?

For music, I'd like to push my limits of learning and writing as much as I can. I'm a nerd so the more I learn the better I feel I am. The more
equipment or software I learn, the better. The more about different types of music, whether it's more popular styles or tribal rhythyms indigenous to some remote area of Africa or what kind of fusion makes sense, I want to learn about it. I don't want to just copy it. I want to learn how certain
tyles progress. I'd also like to do vocals on a few tracks for the next Derma album. I'm not sure that any of this is right for Derma-Tek but I can
always do a side project.

Derma-Tek hasn't played live so far? What are your expectations for a Derma-Tek concert?

We don't believe in industrial karaoke. Because of that, we won't play live until we have what we need to play an authentic show. Now don't get me wrong. There is a lot that just cannot be done live and I appreciate that. However, we also don't believe in just standing there and letting a computer do everything. When I see a concert, I like to see a show. I like to see the band getting the crowd hyped up. I like to watch something interesting. We will do what we can to ensure our fans are not dissapointed.

What did you do before Derma Tek in music?

I took up space. Seriously, I've been singing since I'm three years old. I was in school choir forever. I was in a few local bands growing up that
didn't go anywhere. Then I stopped working on my own projects and started promoting local nightclubs. (That's a whole other story.) But somehow it's all come full circle and now I'm in a project I really care about and believe in.

What are your hobbies besides music?

I guess this is where you learn what I nerd I really am. I study psychology and mult-culturalism. I study mythology and religions from all over the world. I bellydance, do yoga and play with my dog. And I annoy my bandmate.

What does your ideal day look like?

An ideal day for me would be free from aggravation. Maybe that's what I should ask Santa for this year.
