Can you introduce SnowW Wwhite for us?
Errrr… do I have to? Well SnowW.Wwhite is the project of mine, it has released one album in the UK and will be releasing another album in Germany with the new label Kulturkrieg, which excites me greatly as I will get the chance to not just release but to create a lovely digipack and sticker to go with the album and maybe more in good time.
SnowW.Wwhite is my band and my band that’s me. It is currently the only martial female solo project that I know of. It is a bit bold going into a style of music where women are rather rare but thats what i did.
Who is Snowwy?
Snowwy is short for SnowW.Wwhite and thats me again (giggles). Somehow english people are very lazy and if they can shorten your name and give you a nick name then they will. Sounds kind of familiar anyway, i like it.
To what music did you listen as a kid?
*thinks long and hard* I have to admit, I really loved folk music as a child. Heino was, much to the dismay of my mother quite a favourite of mine.

I love fairytales. Not sure which one my favourite was, I think I like the idea that the ones who suffer the most, will at the end receive the greatest justice and reward…. I think I like to dream about that sometimes even today when things seem hard and unfair.
Your album “Wonderland” is released about a year ago, how were the response to that album?
Well the response has been good and people gave be mostly very good feedback. Wonderland was an experiment and I think it was something quite unusual. Some reviews bemoaned that my music does not sound like any other martial band but I think, what is the point of even starting to make music, if it does not come from your own heart and therefore gets your own personal touch. Wonderland was written with special events in mind. I was at first contemplating to sing as well but I decided then to leave it instrumental as it would have been a bit too much for me as a first release.
To what does the title of the album “Wonderland” refer?
It is time to say thank you to my good friend Matthias from Institution D.O.L. who came up with the idea for the name because it was him who heard all tracks for the first time and who encouraged me endlessly. It was the fairytale like sounds and the atmosphere of the music that reminded him of stories about children, which was totally intentional and I agreed that the whole album is about marching into the unknown and wondrous world of adulthood.
You are now finishing up the new album, what can you tell us about it?
I can safely say that it will be much different from wonderland. Yes, it has totally different snare drum sounds; they are proper instrument sounds and as such will hopefully find the liking of people who did not enjoy the tin drums so much.
What progress did you make if you compare the two albums?
That’s a kind of difficult question to answer because I think I made some but I also focus on what I feel at the time, so during wonderland I just had less dark moments in my life, while during the writing of Loss And Losing my life as I knew it once again seemed to fall apart.

One of the tracks is called Sin’s Rune, are you into runes?
Yes of sorts, I would not even dare to think of myself as deeply into them or a specialist but runes are powerful symbols, so powerful that some countries try to ban certain ones altogether. I think that speaks for itself and should start make us think.
It’s pretty unique that a martial act is female, how does this come and why are you an exception, what appeals to you that you started your awn martial act?
It was not intentional. I wrote a piece of music and when I finished it had turned out martial. I wrote my next piece and again, same thing, I seemed to like it and I still do, if anything I wanted to make my music sound like Standgericht but Standgericht had to wait until after I had finished Wonderland, something had to come out first.
Different bands (Feindflug, Funker Vogt) are attracted to the war theme for different reasons, what attracts you in this theme?
Again a hard question, because it is based on a lot of things, like the history of my great grandparents, my grandparents and my parents… possibly also the fear of a new war on our territory but also the endless talks about the wars in the Middle East.
What are bands you like personally and were they of influence?
I like MANY bands and Feindflug, Funker Vogt, Suicide Commando are amongst them but I like so many things that it is hard to say them all now. I also love or should I say mostly love Deniere Volunte and Der Blutharsch, HERR, Allerseelen, Institution D.O.L. , then lots of rhythmic noise, power electronics and good old industrial and practically most of the old EBM stuff… yeah, maybe it has influenced my music but possibly not as directly as one would think. I think most of my personal style comes from having done a lot of choral, folk and church music as well as classical music and before you ask yes, I can read music (sniggers)
You are planning to have live performances, what can we expect from it?
Expect nothing at all.. Top secret… must not tell, must not reveal… its going to be different! Very different!

You also have another band “Standgericht” please tell us something about it?
Standgericht is fun and nothing but fun, its created to poke fun and it’s a good outlet for my warped sense of humour. Standgericht is a sort of EBM …ish industrial.. ish rhythmic noise hybrid. I think a lot of EBM fans like it because it reminds them to some of the older Dirk Ivens stuff.
Why the need to start another band?
Nobody forced me to, I had the feeling that I just wanted to make dance music as well and why not, I like to dance to stuff like that, so why not try out what else can be done?
The year 2007 was a heavy year for you, do all the things that have happened have an influence on the music and in what way did it influence you as a person?
Yes it was heavy, devastating really… it has made me very unhappy, I have seen random acts of kindness of strangers and some friends and acts of utter evil by other so called friends and people who claim they like and wish to help you. Maybe it has made me even bitterer than before. I withdraw a lot and do a lot of stuff just by myself these days.
Was/is making music some kind of therapy for you in hard times?
Yes but it is much more than that. I kept hearing music in mind for years and years and it is as if I had always needed to write some of it down. But when I tried before it just never turned out the way I wanted to and when I played the clarinet I was pretty obviously not talented for the type of music my teacher loved… so I decided I could not write music. Thanks to computers I could in the end.
Everybody has dreams for the future, what are yours?
My dream … for my children to grow up and live healthily and for my life to be secure and less troubled again. For the world to come to its senses and to stop the madness it creates. I would like a fairytale ending.
