Wynardtage

Can you introduce wynardtage to the few readers who dont know it already?

Since over 5 years I am working with the project wynardtage. It developed with the time strictly into the dark-electro area. With the debut cd „waste of time„(2005) i could win the dark dancefloors rapidly by Clubhits like „Sterbehilfe“ or „figures in he mirror“ were born. Next to interviews, critics, and sampler-contributions(Orkus/sonic seducer) i could start my own sampler-series „lost in darkness“ in 05/06 and gain more attention. In summer 06 the co-production e.p. „Wynardtage meets Acylum -Lords of darkness“ became a long-term smasher in the clubs. With the second fulltime release „Evil Mind“ i had the final breakthrough in the scene of electronic music. „Evil Mind“ claimed no. 5 In the german DAC and could stay several weeks in the Native 25 Charts. The new album „Praise the Fallen“ will be releasedoctober the 12 th. 2007 (now in dac peak 10!!). There will be no permanent „acoustic pressure“, but a hard selected mixture of danceable electro smash hits and smoother songs that grow to ear-catching rotators. Harsh beats on one hand, nice melodies added by the well known vocals and voice-samples give a real suitable package.

The songs are really dark sceneries of themes like the false morality and non-speakable issues of our society. There are more personal conflicts taking influence to the songs, so are fears and wishes; and also a thing like suicide is a more intensive capture than on previous releases.

Is it hard to transform your fears and wishes into lyrics, suitable for a song and are there any taboos you won’t write about?

No, it´s good to write down some emotional feelings and impressions. It helps to accept diferent things.

Did you play in any other acts before starting Wynardtage?

I make music already for 10 years. In the past I often was a Techno/House DJ later I went to industrial and electro and finally to wynardtage

Side line magazine said that Evil Mind was one of the dark electro highlights of the year, how do you look back on the album and what good did it bring you?

The album was really successful. I thought the second release would be really important for the future development and so I am very glad with the responses I got.

What review pleased you the most and why?

No review. The greatest thing was to enter the german alternative charts for the first time. A good feeling after all this years and hard work.

You worked on Evil mind with several other people like Cyber Whore and La Magra, how did you get in contact with them and what was it like to work with Louis and Dee Kay?

It was very suitable and good work; I know them for a longer time. Louis is as I do a workaholic in musical things, and really reliable for 100%.

Can we talk about a (former) east german scene with bands like Wynardtage and La Magra, does this connect you in a way?

No, that’s no factor. I mean, I have a bigger fan-base in (former) west germany. I don´t make differences between east and west.

How do you compose a track, do you start of with music or with an idea for a lyric?

Mostly the music comes first and then the lyrics. Of course it can be very motivating for composing, to know that you have strong lyrics in stock.

Where do you get your inspiration, both on music and lyrics, they can be pretty sad and depressive?

I believe they are part of my psyche and person. I don’t have to wear a mask, cut three times a week or make a cruel make-up to look strange or being especially serious
The songs often help me to stay through worser events. There is growing a kind of cure and recreation.

So without the music you wouldn’t do too well. Do you ever think about where you would have been if there wasn’t the music?

Perhabs a professional footballplayer (smile).??? I don´t know. I can´t imagine to live without producing music.this  was my dream since I´ve been a teenager.

Looking back on both albums now, Waste of Time and Evil Mind, are there things you would have done differently?

No, the current state of the art with Praise the fallen shows that the way was right that I‘ve been gone with the previous albums „waste of time„ or „evil mind„. You have to see a development in a music project.

Now you are about to release the new cd "Praise the fallen", in what way does it differ from the previous albums? What improvement did you make?

The music and the lyrics increased their quality. I think the new record sounds a little bit more to a process of mature.

On myspace you are announcing a remix every week, how important is internet for a band like Wynardtage?

My space offers me the chance to get in contact with other bands, promoters or fans, on very fast and easy way and so you can spread the music very good.

There will be a bonuscd with 14 remixes, how did you get in contact with the bands and how were the remixes realised?

I contacted most of them via net and was very happy to get such a response.

I guess the remixes were realized by internet as well, sending musicfiles to each other? Did you gave the others total freedom in making their remixes?

Yes, I choose 1 or 2 tracks for the remixing bands and give them total freedom.

wynardtage

How did you select the remixes/bands, what criteria did you use or did you used all remixes you got back?

I choose some bands by my personal flavor. Others because of their big names.

What do you expect from this cd?

Firstly I hope the record is something suitable for the fans. After first reviews+ entry of DAC I am very optimistic about it.

You are also working for Rupal Records as head of bandsigning and promotion? How do you select bands for the label? What is important in your opinion?

We try to fullfil our own musical ambitions at RupalRecords and to catch The“nerves of time“ We don t look to the sales all the time. Its important that the bands are professional, reliable and give a good production in music, so all can expect our support. Of course our personal taste is playing a role in it.

What can we expect from Rupal Records in the near future?

I hope for good releases and maybe the realisation of live projects for 2008

What advice would you give to new and young bands?
You have to bring much efforts, patience to reach something. You don’t have to expect to get anything presented by themselves in this business.

Any last words for the readers?

Many thanks for your interest and support. See you maybe at a gig in NL with wynardtage and acylum in 2008!
