Can you give a brief introduction to the band?

Xentrifuge was started in 2005 out of north jersey U.S.A. The band consists of myself(Chris C.) paradox and Ray H. as official members. Xentrifuge was started with the distinct purpose of combining EBM with Noise.

Can you explain the name and how did you came up with it?

The name comes from the word "Centrifuge". This is a machine used in many different fields of science from medicine to making weapons of mass destruction. These contradictory applications is why we chose the name. While it can help cure disease, it can also help destroy life. Xentrifuge is now a machine in which harsh EBM is manufactured.

Why did you start with this band and this kind of music?

We have all been involved in music one way or another. Eventually we were introduced to bands like; Wumpscut, leaether strip, and suicide commando. Immediately we began to  experiment with synths, drum machines and  samples. In time we put together a solid EBM project called "Ex-tract". Then we began to work with software which helped increase our creativity and opened new possibilities. From there Xentrifuge emerged which led to "Light extinguished".

First times I heard of the band was by some remixes you did. Do you still do remixes and what is the fun of doing remixes?

Yes, we still do remixes whenever we have the time.We just finished a few remixes for such bands as Acylum and Wynardtage. Doing remixes gives us the chance to combine our skills with other artists and see what the result would be. It's almost like being in the same band as these artists for just a song or two.

Your lyrics aren’t the happiest, what inspires you in writing lyrics and do they reflect your view on the world?

Our lyrics are inspired by many different aspects of of lifeand none of them fall into the happy category. Some of the lyrics are born out of real life events and situations. For example, "apostasy" focuses on the conversion of ones beliefs, which is punishable by death in some regions of the world. This still happens today. We also write lyrics based on our own views and mindscapes.

Another example is the song "Oblivion". This tells a story of eternal imprisonment. To be forgotten forever. These are just some of the Themes found throughout the album.

What inspires you in writing music?

Music in general is our creative release. It's something we all enjoy doing. It gives us a platform to convey our views and ideas. Music allows us to step away from the everyday routine of dayjobs and things like that.

You just released the “light extinguished” cd on Noitekk, how did you manage to get a deal with them?

A while ago I had the opportunity of meeting Marco(NoiTekk) at a Grendel show in NYC. I gave him a demo and we were soon contacted about a release on NoiTekk. It is great working with Marco and we look forward to the future with Noitekk.

Did you get some feedback on the album, how are the responses?

We have had a lot of positive feedback about the album. People seem to be enjoying the album. We always appreciate positive feedback. It let's us know we are doing our job and motivates us to improve even further.

Besides you Xentrifuge consists of Paradox and Ray H, what is their role in the band, are they only live members or not?

I set the core of xentrifuge with most of the concept and writing. Ray H. and Paradox provide additional synth work, samples and lyrics. We also have two additional live members; Jose B. and Ion, who will help provide a live rotation.

Do you still play live drums for Life Cried?

Yes, I am still involved in Life Cried. I've have been  Playing with LC for a few years now. I really enjoy being a part of LC. The second album is in the works and look for LC performing live in europe in the near future.

What are your personal expectations for the album?

Well, we hope people appreciate the time and effort put into the album. Hopefully it can help inspire upcoming artists the way past artists have influenced us. And of course, we hope it sells well.
