Who is Zynthexia?
Zynthexia is a Finnish female dj, percussionist and club promoter.
To what music did you listen as a kid?
The same as every other kid. ;-) As a teenager I listened something like grunge, punk, post-punk and hc, I was also big fan of Marilyn Manson back then.
How did you came in contact with electronic music, what made you change musicstyle?
First I got known gothic circles and from there I got my first contact with electronic music which came more famous in my eyes from that very moment.
How did you get your nickname Zynthexia?
I wanted to create artist name which would sound like “industrial” and that it would be different than usual nicknames, so somehow figured that out. From that people started to use it.
I’m the tits of the band. ;-) Speaking the truth it all began while guys were recording their second album “innocence.lost”. Somehow my voice got to one of the tracks and I’m also the covergirl of that album. At the time they were wondering to start doing gigs and our guitar player, Örkki, came to ask if I would like to join the band for doing liveshows and for now I also play electronic percussions for SM. For the next album I’m taking part in songs too.
So your role in the band is changing, what will you do for the next album, will you be involved in songwriting as well?
Yeah, the next album should be done more together with all band members. I try to do some lyrics also, so maybe SinMasters finds it’s submissive sides too… *grin*
Are you nervous before going on stage, how do you prepare for a concert?
I have been doing lots of dj gigs in big places so I‘ve had time to get my nerves in balance. Of course I’m still little nervous before gigs but in the end it just gives some thrill on stage.
As a kid, what did you want to become as a grown-up?
First I wanted to become an artist because besides sports as a kid I used to draw a lot in my spare time and I was very good in it. As a teenager I learned to sew my own clothes and was thinking that why not combine these two things. For now I graduated clothing and fashion designer.
There’s some. As a dj you aren’t always “in front of the audience” but with a band you are, so you have to concentrate for performing more perfectly. And of course there’s always difference being “on the road” within four other persons than just by yourself. ;-)
What makes a track great to play when dj’ing? Do you make a setlist before or not?
Catchy beats, good lyrics and originality. Usually I like to play harsh electro because people are going crazy for that. I don’t do my setlists anymore but of course I have to think what CD’s I’m going to take with me for I’m not one of those dj’s who play from the laptop. ;P
Of all sins, what is your favourite sin?
Lust.
And what is the most overated virtue in your mind?
Morality. For this I don’t mean that you shouldn’t have morality at all. What I mean is that people decides their “morality” themselves, there’s no point to tell others how to act. I don’t like narrow-minded and sententious people who are kind of claiming others for their lost.
At the moment it’s Laku. It’s Finnish salmiakki ( = drop) mixed with Vodka. I drink always cider so don’t know lot about drinks… or men either…
If you could ask a fortune-teller one question, what would you ask?
- Well I guess everybody would like to know about their future so that would be my question.
To what part of your future are you most curious?
All of it. For now all the doors are open, I’m not sure where I will be next year. Most of all I’m curious about my working situation. But in the end, it’s up to me.
What are your dreams for the future?
Hope to be in music business, success and get lot of money? :D I would also like to be talented clothing and fashion designer. ;)
You are studying to be a fashion designer, what appeals to you in designing clothes, who is your rolemodel in designing?
Actually I just graduated last week. My role models are at least Rudi Gernreich, Vivienne Westwood and Jean-Paul Gaultier.
How does the ultimate Zynthexia day looks like?
Full of sex, booze and rock’n’roll! ;-)

When you dream about something, you can be surprised one day having it. ;) So make your dreams come true and enjoy your lives. And of course; be drunk as fuck. :D
