Cylab – Disseminate
Cylab was founded in 1999 by the classical trained pianist Percy Trayanov, mixing ebm, IBM, electro, synthpop and darkwave. When SeVerina X Sol was added to the line up as singer things really began to roll. They recorded 2 albums, Unparallel Universe and Satelites. Their newest Brainchild is Disseminate, a collection of remixes, a nirvana cover and some tracks they reworked themselves. Third member of Cylab is Dre Robison who handles the live percussion.
It’s really an interesting release and Percy likes to explain some things:

It all started after "Satellites" came out, we were talking how it would be great if "such and such" could do a remix of a practicular song. The idea started growing, growing more and more as time went by, friends of ours we interested in remixing our material as well, so it came to its natural state of putting out a remix album. We wanted to offer wide variety of songs and keep things fresh, in a sence of not having one song repeating 5-6 times. What we've noticed is that quite a few artists went out of their "comfort" zone and explored different sound and approach on our songs. We were flattered.
Content was one of the 2 songs we offered to the public as a remix contest. Embodi was the contest winner for this song. In my opinion he did a great job with the song. It has so much drive and its own unique sound, yet still captures the vibe of original idea.
Satellites got remixed by Displacer. Knowing the style and capabilities of Displacer, i thought this would be the perfect song for an artist in the glitchy/IDM/experimental genre to do,given that "Satellites" is not a straight forward 4-on-the-floor type of song. The final trip hoppy vibe Displacer offered, really surprised us.
Parting Fields was done by our friends God Module and Hype. Once again, God Module surprised us too. Honestly, i was expecting this slaughter house gorey vibe from it. While instrumentally they kept their signature sound, combined with Severina's vocals, it sounds very in-your-face uncompromisingly good.
Dented Halos is arguably our most popular song. There were 2 other remixes done, which we really wanted to include, but unfortunately as it is,the lenght of the album is over 73 minutes, it couldn't fit one cd only. Imperative Reaction did one of the remixes. I remixed their song "As we fall", also happened that we did a few shows together. Severina and I thought that they would be the perfect fit for "Dented Halos". Sure enough they did a great job with it and so far this has been the song radio stations have been playing the most here in the US. SkinjoB did a remix which i love. It gave Dented Halos steroids. It is this massive pounding thing. His remix is also available on the chart topping Endzeit Bunkertracks III cd and from what i have been noticing lately, on quite a few DJ playlists.
Last but not least, Interface delivered as well. Very club friendly mix, great sound. These guys always do great job. Very talanted band. "Tides" was requested by Drukore. We have known each other for almost 10 years. He was involved in recording guitars and co-writing for the first Diva Destuction album along with Severina. Hence the rock sound of "Tides". Nice and fresh.
Kundalini is a gem. I mean, c'mon, it's Combichrist afterall. We were really anxious to hear what Andy did with the song. And the final outcome is this electro, oozing with sex remix. We love it!
Path was done by Haujobb. I am huge fan of Daniel Myer's work. In general, i really like intelligent music. We gave him a few songs to chose from. And he picked Path. It actually made perfect sence. While he kept only few original elements, Daniel left the signature Haujobb mark on the remix. Another favorite cut of mine on the album.
Heart Shaped Box was originally intended for a compilation cd, which never happened. It was supposed to be all covers from dead artists. We picked Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box for few reasons. Like Nirvana, Cylab started in Seattle, too. The whole cancer theme in the song really hit home for both Severina and I, losing immediate family members to cancer. We were both very happy with the way the song turned out. So all of a sudden we had this song, sitting unreleased, ready to see daylight. Once we started including it in our live sets, the responses have been great. We absolutely had to include it in Disseminate.
Motionfix was an older song from our first album Unparallel Universe. Though time, i started giving it a facelift, making it faster, punchier and eventually got to sound like it does. Another crowd favorite during our live performances. Another song from the first album is "Greys". Shok really made it fresh, dancy and chik.
