Summer Darkness

A festival i hope never to skip. This festival has a special sphere, everybody is relaxing, enjoying their own time and for a dark fest I’ve seen many colours! :)

Utrecht is a very pretty place to be with her canals especially by night when lights are shining into the water..it’s so romantic! They also have a boat, the “Summer Darkness Boat” and every year we plan to do this trip, it seems we are all (black) cats, we missed it..again!

Or way to busy with having fun outside with friends and seeing bands!
It was a very Hot Summer Darkness and respect to all the band members that played, danced and sang because inside the venues it was heaven in hell!

An and Ed asked me to write a review so I picked a couple of bands I like to write about.

Lets start with: NG-Pro

I don’t understand why they aren’t more popular…It was a hard concert for them because they had to deal with the fact that Covenant played before in battle with the Birthday Massacre and NG-pro was the last band that played at the Oudegracht. But you could see that they enjoyed their gig so much and made a hell of a party!!! Loved the jokes between the songs, they were very congenial! Awesome sound, with strong kicking beats filled with a raw guitar line! Entertaining from the beginning till the end. They finished their set with a well known song “Blue Monday”!  Beautiful version with a vocoderlead that was enormous clear!

The Cruxshadows

I’ve seen them a couple of times and to be honest…I’ve seen them better.

Maybe it was hard to deal with the sound at the Oudegracht? because bands I’ve seen at the Helling it listened easier, clearer, dynamic and well balanced.

Also missed Roque’s interaction with the crowd which he can do so well! He’s very good with this part of a role especially with big audience. Maybe it wasn’t full enough at the Oudegracht or he was stunned by the heat! It looked like they didn’t had their energybar full!

Besides that I did enjoyed the Cruxshadows and the girls dancing and doing their curves. But I think it’s time for the Cruxshadows to bring something new :)

Reaper

Spectacular! What a surprise! A mysterious third member also covered up by blood and mud. This stunning guy also treated us not wearing a t-shirt!!!! For many woman a lust for their eyes. We wanted to know, of course,  a little bit more from the “mystery guest”. Found out that he’s known from the band called “Midnight Resistance”. He played a rough gitarsound which gave an extra power of boost evilness in their songs! And then the popular energetic Greg slamming the keys, pumping up the crowd…they went Crazy! And Vasi who moves like a lion on stage with brutal vocals! Beats and lyrics that kills! That’s Reaper!

The audience loved it and danced hard! Vasi caught it all on tape with his camera! His interaction with the crowd is amazing ..and his jokes are funny! Another surprise during their gig, Reaper announced his new single which he played that evening for the first time called “Dirty Dancing”! Strong song which isn’t shady, quite same level as “She a devil and a *****”

Klangstabil

Is a band who doesn’t work with a lot of extra’s on stage. It’s the music that only counts. With his bare feet on stage and bringing his music very seriously, so serious that when you listen to it real good.. he will bring you in to a atmospheric kind of trance. If you don’t listen well and turning your back against him to have a “little” chitchat. It was little…just a second! Really! He’ll be mad!!! For everyone to know, I warned you! Don’t ever do that especially not when Twisted words is playing!!! He almost pulled my hair out!!! But he was right! And besides he was Talking!!  I like Klangstabil very much! It’s hypnotic, bombastic with loads of creativity!

Modulate

If you are really in the mood for some dark, electro, techno/trance industrial music!? Then you have to watch them. If you aren’t in the mood than you will get in tha mood!  Your definitely at the right place with Modulate! Their popularity is rising so high in a fast lane and that isn’t rare at all! What a show, what a sound! They played at the Helling and it was Modulate in one clear ocean with bursting waves! This is my second time watching and in that time they grew so much! They also had a awesome lightshow and the venue was packed! People went Crazy!!! Modulate brings so much energy that the heat didn’t matters to the crowd, the guys really were kicking asses! The set was filled with songs, they played a long gig and it was still a pity that it ended so fast! Which sais enough!
