Suicidal Romance

Suicidal Romance- Love Beyond Reach

Suicidal Romance is a three piece outfit coming from Tallinn, Estonia. They combine romantic pop, darkwave and gothic with electronic influences and catchy melodies. Suicidal Romance just released their debut cd “Love Beyond Reach”on infacted records.

Suicidal Romance is a band that is often compared to Blutengel and their are certainly some simmularities. Both are dark romantic bands who make electronic music and combine female and male vocals. Suicidal Romance is more poppy than Blutengel and this makes them closer to an act like Say Y.  Their songs are easy to get in, have great melodies and vocal lines that will be stuck in your head for days. Also l’ame immortelle is a name that pops up because of the distorted male vocals and clear female vocals. Don’t expect a cheap clone of those bands
because for that this band is way too good. It just should give you a direction.

The cd is divers, with quiet music like the intro  "Love Beyond Reach" and "In This Night (lullaby)" and some nice punchy danceable tracks like "Will It Be (for us)" The band offers really catchy music and especially the choruses will get stucked in your brain for days. Listen to "Prince Of The Darkness and you know what I mean. A huge compliment has to be given to Viktoria Seimar who has a wide vocal range and keeps a crystal clear voice. Dmitry Ivanov, the mastermind behind all the music, uses distortion on his vocals and the combination of these two different styles goes together well.

Dmitry likes to explain the tracks:

*Love Beyond Reach*

It is both, intro and also the main title of the album. I wanted to start this CD from the track that would open a full meaning of this album in few minutes. Love Beyond Reach is a story about love, that by some reasons can't be discovered to the end. Even when love is strong there could always be some things that will brake your heart.

*Not Alone*

Lyrics start from "it was a cold and a raining night" and it is true. I was sitting in my room and it was raining heavily and even though it was a summer night the weather was pretty cold. So I started thinking about something warm and a figure of an angel that saves peoples hearts from the cold came to my mind. So I took a piece of paper and wrote this song as it is right now, no corrections were made. Probably this songs tells about people whose hearts are broken from love, but all wounds heal in time and everyone is hoping for a savior to make the pain go away faster.

*Will it be (for us)*

Probably it is one of my favorite tracks on this CD. It is about the darker side of relationships and again about love. They say that there can’t be love between a Mistress and her Slave. So that it's the topic of this song. They don’t know how far they are able to go but at the end love still wins. Being experimental with that kind of games myself, I can say, that there are always some kind of "come to me, go away" feelings. So this is probably one of the reasons I wrote this song.

*Call Me*

Talks about one- night relationships based on pure lust. The sweet taste of something you shouldn’t be doing when thinking rationally… but this only makes you want it even more. The result of this may cause a lot of pain, but at this point the desire and interest overcomes it. So.. you count on “time heals everything” and surrender.

*Angel of Love*

I think that this one seems to be inspired by the Disney's "Mermaid". It is more in the style of those fairy tales which talk about a nice girl and a brave prince. Sometimes You can meet people who seldom want anything to themselves but then comes a moment where they would do everything just to be with someone who is not from their circle. So as it was here... she gave everything that she had to other people and one day fell in love with a man in the name of whom she could sacrifice everything else she had left just to be with him. As you see, power of love is really great.

*White Snow*

Here you see connections with the title -"Love Beyond Reach". It talks about this complicated situation, when you love someone, but this someone doesn’t love you back. Heart is a really very fragile thing. I tried to compare the soul of a person in love to white snow, as they are pure in the same way. But when a heart is broken and suicidal thoughts appear, it's like a change of seasons in its head... when white and pure snow melts and dirt appears at its place. So happens to a heart when it is broken.

*Poisoned Kiss*

This track looks for me like a story of one of my relationships... probably it was a good inspiration and a lesson for me. It is about being in love with someone, but this someone is using you for her own wishes only. You want to give everything to this person, but this person even doesn’t say "thank you". Like a vampire who sucks Your blood and makes a slave out of you.

*Lonely Tears*

A very good ballad that was written by SR's first female singer and re-edited and produced by me. This is a very sad track which is continuing "Love Beyond Reach" topic. Again some unanswered love and suicidal thoughts. That is where the name Suicidal Romance suits pretty good, right?

*Prince of the Darkness*

Here I can proudly say that it is the first track that was written for the "Love Beyond Reach" CD. And recordings started also from this song. Once I was asked if I believe in the devil because of the name of this song. So that You won’t have to ask again-  I don’t believe in the existence of devil like something outside of human, but yes, I believe that in every person there is a dark, a lower side of his ego, some can overcome that and others can’t, so that’s why we have so much terror in our world. But the song tells about that romantic feeling when you are all alone and waiting for your beloved, someone to save you from this loneliness. You are looking everywhere for him, every moment you feel like he’s stepping in the next second. You know that he is somewhere waiting for you, you just haven’t met yet... The word “darkness” symbolises here the unknown and unseen, where and what this “saviour” still is. I think it also adds a bit of mystical and even desperate -“I am happy to even live the rest of my life in darkness, if I can do it with you”- shade to this longing.

*Star*

That was the very last song that was written in the "Love Beyond Reach" era. I also have a version of this song that was produced by me and Jan Moser of Lost Area, I hope that we will be able to release this version also someday. The one you can listen on the CD was chosen because of the same style and instruments that were used in all tracks on this CD. By lyrics it is simply a romantic love story of two lovers discovering their feelings

*In This Night (lullaby)*

The last track on this CD that finishes the assortment of love stories under the name of "Love Beyond Reach". Again there is a suicidal topic to the lyrics and a dark atmosphere. I think that this track is perfectly finishing this collection. It gives hopes about a better place without hate, where your love can be reborn. Unfortunately in this story, this place is not located in this world.
