The Secret Meeting - Ultrashiver
The secret meeting is a collaboration between kaRIN and Statik of Collide and Dean Garcia of Curve. If you ask me it's music for body and mind. At some parts my body just wants to move but when I close my eyes I drift away. Expect biting guitar parts, great synth layers and on top of that the unique voice of kaRIN.
Usually when I write words to songs…I peel down deep inside myself and see what comes out. It feels sort of dreamlike
as my subconscious lets go of thoughts and feelings. I just let the words flow out and later I go back and figure out what
they mean to me. Often, they have different levels where they could be interpreted in different ways and sometimes have
deeply personal meanings which translate only to me. It is usually myself tangling with my own feelings…a way of
speaking in code to myself in a diary of sorts. I prefer that the listener gather their own personal meanings from the
songs…they are written to be left open to interpretation
So having said all that…I will go about explaining, or at least offering a mindset for the songs on "Ultrashiver".
*Touch*
This song was the beginning of The Secret Meeting. The feeling that it evokes for me is how elated I was to get to
work on music with someone who’s work Statik and I had so much respect for. I was letting every note of the music
touch me in every way.
*Am I here*
Basically this song deals with the question of who am I, what is my purpose and what am I doing in the universe?
*Every Little Thing*
Deals with my struggle with writing words and that every single thing you say has a meaning and an intension.
*Beautiful Noise Machine*
This song went through several variations until I was happy with it. It deals with finding escape for all of your emotions
through music and art. I love this song, it took awhile to get it where I liked it…but it perfectly captures the feeling.
All of my life…I have learned to find release through art. Through art…I get to create my own world.
*Blacker than Blue*
This one deals with the thought that underneath we are all the same…feeling, thinking, human beings.
*Soul Creeper*
This one was written before I even heard the music, while I was in the car. I was absolutely exhausted and it was
a crazy desert storm with pouring rain and scary lightning. I was reaching outside of my own soul into other souls.
*Shooting Laser Beams*
The classic thoughts of if you had super powers which ones would you choose, which boils down to which actions do
you choose to conduct your life.
*Forwards & Sideways*
This song deals with my own alienation…as my imagination has me floating out in space talking to myself.
*Shiver X *
Just pouring out thoughts…you’ll have to gather this one for yourself. I am not sure I can just sum it up.
*Imaginate*
As the word suggests…it is hallucinating through your imagination.
Ed is asking: "I love the cover of the cd. Can you explain it and in what way does it match/combinates with the music?"
I love surreal...it opens the door to imagination and possibilities...while working on The Secret Meeting...the whole thing felt
very surreal to me. When I came across the artwork by Teodoru Badiu, it just clicked for me. I loved the clocks and the wings
and how the elements came in three's. It felt like what working on the CD felt like to me...so I knew it was right for Ultrashiver.
